Experience the real, authentic Madagascar
Do you love discovering unique places that mass tourism hasn't touched yet and that have kept their original charm? Then leave your everyday routine behind and come with us to explore an amazing place called Nosy Komba – Lemur Island. This picturesque little island, part of the Republic of Madagascar, lies off the northwest coast of Madagascar. As soon as you arrive, you'll be surrounded by complete tranquillity, because there are no cars or motorbikes on the island. Enjoy unspoilt nature, beautiful beaches and an azure sea full of coral – a paradise for every diving and snorkelling enthusiast. Right on one of the island's romantic beaches, our resort awaits you – and with it the exotic holiday you've always dreamed of. The resort has its own dive centre, so if the diverse underwater world calls to you, this is the place for you. Our restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, so you don't have to worry about meals and can leave all the chores of everyday life at home.
What to see nearby
The main attractions of Nosy Komba are the clear sea full of coral reefs and the pristine nature. It isn't called "Lemur Island" for nothing – these friendly residents are part of the family at the resort :) You'll also see chameleons and many other animals you may come across while walking through the enchanting landscape. You can discover the diverse beauty of the island and its surroundings on the excursions we organise for our guests every day. With the dive centre right at the resort, you can explore the amazing underwater world from morning to evening. In August and September you can enjoy a unique whale-watching experience, seeing groups of humpback whales from the boat on their long journey from Antarctica. In October and November, whale sharks visit our waters in large numbers every year. Ampangorina, the largest village on the island, is also well worth a visit. As you browse the traditional local markets and handicraft shops, adorable black lemurs will keep you company. You'll also have a unique opportunity to see how the Malagasy – Madagascar's native people, with half-Indonesian and half-African roots – live. The neighbouring island of Nosy Be, about 20 minutes away by boat, has plenty to offer too. Its main attractions include Lemuria Land, where you can get up close to lemurs, chameleons, tortoises and crocodiles. On this "island of scents", the sea breeze carries the aroma of ylang-ylang, vanilla, cocoa, lemongrass and other ingredients used in perfumery, and you can visit an essential-oil distillery. An easy hike takes you to the island's highest peak, Mont Passot (325 m above sea level), with a fantastic 360° view from the summit. On the way down, you can take a dip in the freshwater crater lakes. An unforgettable experience is a full-day boat trip to Nosy Iranja, without exaggeration one of the most beautiful islands in the world. A stunning sandy beach runs around the island, and the ocean shows every shade of blue you can imagine. Better still, the fine white-sand beach stretches all the way to the neighbouring islet of Little Nosy Iranja, so you can walk comfortably between the two islands – something you won't find anywhere else. You'll find more of the excursions we organise from the resort on our blog.
